Essay by: Brooke Standifer Skyler Weaver is Awesome Like most eighteen year olds, I was ready to leave the nest and starting my own adventure in college. Three years ago I made my way down to Corvallis to begin a new and exciting chapter in my life. The air was filled with the sweet smell of manure, as it often is in Corvallis. All around me were families: Mother's crying, children shaking their heads in embarrassment, and fathers trying desperately to contain the situation. That first week seemed oddly quiet as my peers and I discovered our new freedom. Everyone was settling in quite comfortably and things seemed like they would remain at their mellow, lackadaisical pace for quite sometime. That was of course until the fateful day Skyler Weaver came bounding into my dorm room and that is where our story truly begins. My first impression of Skyler was not unlike most peoples' impressions; I assumed, of course, that he was completely insane and needed to be heavily medicated. I really didn't have a chance to form any kind of opinion of Skyler before I was bombarded with laughter as a result of what I like to call "The Skyler Weaver Show." It is a one man show in which Skyler's comedic genius enriches the lives of everyone around him. As I got to know the man behind the act, I realized that Skyler was much more than the "funny guy." He is a passionate, caring, intelligent, and loving person. He approaches all situations optimistically and patiently and is always willing to lend a hand. Skyler is a dedicated young man and probably the most amazing individual that I have ever met. His passion for life and school has been a great motivator throughout my college career and for that I will always be thankful. He's simply an inspiring young man. Although it has taken me three years truly be grateful for Skyler, I know that I will appreciate him for the rest of my life. I guess the only way to really express the way I feel about Skyler is to say that "Skyler Weaver is Awesome."
